The Weekend Report

Well let's see...  I think the last time we left off was Friday evening.  We all woke up bright and early Saturday morning for a road trip to Birmingham.  We were meeting Josh's family there for what we like to call "Summer Cousinfest".  We had a great time visiting all the Elmores and it is something we really should try to do more often.

After that, we hurried on back home so we could babysit Baby Charlotte while her parents went out on a date that evening.  She is 4 months old and her two older sisters were out of town with grandparents for the week so we were more than happy to watch her while Dad and Mom got a "true" kid free outing.

The boys had the best time with her.  Caleb Davis loved helping with her bottle and Nathan James thought that pacifier was the best thing ever!  Can you tell those are 2 foreign objects around our home?  She was the best little thing and I love that little tuft of hair on top.  So cute!

Then on Sunday, we headed to church.  After our Life Group class, Josh filled in and taught one of the Bus Ministry classes.  I ended up staying in the Nursing Moms room during the entire worship service and watched the sermon on television.  Emma Lee was talkative and sleepy but looking back on it I really think it was me and the fact that I was starting to feel sick.

You pretty much know the rest of the story...  On the way home from church, I started to feel sick.  I came in and immediately went to bed, followed by a short visit on the couch while all 4 of us (me and the kids) slept for a few hours fighting fevers while Josh attended a Deacon Officer's Meeting at church.  Then it was back to bed for all of us.  A little throw up, some nightmares, and tears and that puts us back to Monday.  We have all been feeling much better since then.  There have been several other friends with this 24 hour bug these past few days so I guess that is what we had.

This morning we headed out for the Bright Lights parent's meeting.  This is in preparation for preschool in the fall.  Did I really just type that?    We are so excited but I still cannot wrap my mind around the fact that my little guy will be starting preschool in the fall.  The meeting went very well and I am really looking forward to spending more time with all the families that signed up this year.  They all seem like such a fun group.  I know that our babies are going to have the best time growing up together.

This afternoon we are just hanging around the house.  The boys are playing in their room while Emma Lee takes a nap.  We have swim lessons later on this evening.  We have not spent much time in the water this summer so we are really looking forward to this.  Better go get dinner started...

family time is something that your kids will cherish as they get older, especially that time with their cousins...
