Strawberry Pickin’

001 (4)

We got up early Friday morning and headed to a local farm to pick berries.  We are still keeping Joy Lynn close to home but we figured that an early morning trip out to the berry patch would not be too bad on the crowd control issue.  As we all loaded up in the van that morning, we realized that it was the 1st time all 6 of us had been in the same vehicle on a trip together.  It was the kid’s 1st time (along with mine) to ever go on this type of adventure.  I had heard good things from everyone about this place so we were all excited when we arrived at the farm that morning.

Picking the berries…

Notice how the “bigger boy” was sampling instead of picking….  Ha!

Joy Lynn was not too fond of all that hard work so the 2 of us went to the little “store” they had and found a rocking chair on the front porch.  We enjoyed the quiet and all the beautiful flowers.

Although she got fired because she was eating too many berries.  Oh and let’s not forget…

The supervisor - who looks a little bored with it all, don’t ya think?

I have to say that these are some of the best strawberries that I have ever had.  Good thing because we have eaten a ton of them over the past few days.  Besides just snacking on them, we have enjoyed strawberries on our waffles, homemade strawberry ice cream, strawberry pies (I made 4), strawberry shortcakes, strawberry pancakes, strawberry smoothies, and we still have a handful left over.  Josh and I both got tickled just thinking about what we could put berries on.

And if that was not enough I have been enjoying my new candle that my Nanny gave me for my birthday.  Perfect for the weekend, don’t ya think…

Well that about wraps up our little trip to the strawberry patch this weekend.  Thanks for going along with us.

I still have a few more photos from our weekend and I will try to put those up tomorrow.

I just got the paper that tells me all of the places to pick and I can't wait to go. We always pick apples but this will be our first year picking strawberries. I would love to make jam. I love your assembly line.
