Happy Belated Memorial Day! We hope you all had a great kickoff to your summer this past weekend. We sure did and I really hated to see this one go. Josh was able to take Friday off, which meant that with the holiday on Monday that we enjoyed 4 glorious days together. We really did not do anything fancy but we had a great time and we were able to visit with lots of family and friends – which is always nice. Here are a few photos from our weekend together…
Some husbands bring you flowers for your birthday but this is what mine brought home from work…
He just found it on the side of the road – stopped to pick the thing up – threw it in the back of his truck - and drove on home. As you can tell, the boys loved it and Caleb Davis had to feed him some lettuce for dinner that evening.
Of course, I did eventually get my flowers…
Gerber Daisies… my favorite! I hate to even admit to you how long these sat in my kitchen before I noticed them that evening.
Like I said earlier, it was a great weekend with lots of family and friends visiting and bringing us meals (in honor of Joy Lynn). I have to say that alone is such a blessing in disguise. It allowed us some much needed time to just relax and enjoy time together as a family.
Saturday afternoon/evening we had a special guest come over to do a little backyard camping…
No camping trip is complete without hotdogs and smores, right?
The kids all had a blast playing with each other and I think Katie Jo’s 1st camping trip was a success.
Sunday evening, we headed over to the Alabama Jubilee to see the hot air balloons and some fireworks. Sorry no photos from that little adventure. Not only was it a last minute trip, but we left our camera at home + Joy Lynn and I stayed in the van the whole time while the rest of the crew checked out the festivities. Come to think of it… Josh did take some photos of the kids on his phone so I will have to try to figure out how to download those.
Monday afternoon, we decided to ride around and do a little furniture shopping at some local stores. We figured that due to the holiday there would be some Memorial Day sales. Well, we were right and look what was sitting in our living room by 4:00 pm that afternoon…
We both love it! Now I just have to rearrange all of our home decor + photos on the walls. Not the fun part!
Of course even with all the new fancy furniture and toys, our kids would just rather play and live in something like this…
Didn’t you just love playing with big ‘ole boxes when you were a kid?
Well that about sums up our weekend… As you can tell, we had a great kick off to summer and I cannot wait to see what these next lazy days of summer hold for us. ![]()
