In Denial…

I am in total denial that this little squirt is going to be 2 soon.

I have been busy this week working on details for her upcoming birthday party.  Here’s a peek at the invitations…

I thought they turned out so cute, don’t you?  The best part is that we are all going to the circus that morning before her party.  How fun is that?  I have not been to the circus since I was in kindergarten (remember that Britni?) and Josh has never been so this should be a fun treat for everyone.

Tackle It Wednesday – A Little Hiccup

Happy Wednesday!

I know that I am supposed to be doing the “big reveal” of my Master Bedroom Blank Wall today.  However, I had a little hiccup in that project because I decided at the last minute to move the furniture around in our bedroom.  I have worked on it but that being said I am not 100% done with the project yet so I will wait for photos just a little bit longer.

Since last week, I was able to completely declutter our kitchen (all cabinets are cleaned out + my china has been counted and cleaned) and we also did this over the weekend…

Bye Bye Brass!!

Hello Antique Bronze!

Amazing how such a simple update – like changing the inside doorknobs can make such a big difference to home decor.

Thanks for dropping by today!

Here’s a look at this week’s menu…

It should be a fun week ahead.  In addition to our regular weekly activities, we have a lunch visit with Paw Paw Frank, a preschool field trip to Sci-Quest, and a fun tool themed birthday party.  Oh and I also have my much loved pregnancy glucose test coming up this week too.

I also updated a couple of my recipes over here so be sure to check those out too.

Hope you have a great week,

Because random photos like this one from Hippie Day at High School show up on there.
Thanks Amanda!!  I love it!!

And yes…  that is me on the left.  Not so sure why I am holding a Mountain Dew can?  I despise Mountain Dew!

Happy Thursday Everyone!

Tackle It Wednesday – Hot Spots Cleared

Happy Wednesday!  Thanks for being patient with me during the holidays but I have some good news…
Tackle It Wednesday is back!  So are you all ready to see the “big reveal” from my cluttered Hot Spots?

Let’s take a little peek at the before shots again.  Here is the desk before…

and here is the family “communication center” in our kitchen…

And here you all go…

The Desk After!

Ahhh…  That feels so much better.  I know that I still have a little clutter situation going on over there in my Inbox (top right) but you have to admit that it looks so much better than before, right?

And here comes that other Hot Spot…

The Kitchen Counter After!

Does it even look like the same place?  Bullet_Smiley_1   I even took some time to dust and update the photo in that frame.  I am so glad to have these 2 areas of our home “back” to their normal working function.  It is still so amazing to me what you can get accomplished in a good 15 minute – focused – power session.  It really only took me two 15 minute sessions on the desk and one 15 minute session on that counter.  Josh even got in the spirit and set the timer for 15 minutes while he tackled his Inbox basket there on the kitchen counter.  I am always so shocked at how much paper clutter we accumulate and most of that just needed to be put in the trash or filed away.  One of my “goals” this year is to conquer the terrible procrastination habit that I have with paper clutter once and for all.  Handle it once is my motto for 2010.

Let’s take a look at them again…

Ok, so are you all ready to see my next “Tackle It Wednesday” project?  Well in addition to decluttering and deep cleaning my kitchen this week, I will also be working on this…

The Blank Wall!

Now granted it is not really blank anymore because Josh did give me this lovely frame for my birthday last year (which I have yet to put pictures in).  I could come up with all kinds of excuses as to why this project is unfinished (extremely sick all Fall + I did not want to take time to decorate this house when I thought we were moving + etc…) but the main thing is that I have just not taken the time to finish this wall in our Master Bedroom like I would like.

Oh and I will also work on getting rid of those 2 containers that I have not unpacked with Christmas gifts in them.  Check back next Wednesday for the results…

Have a great Wednesday everyone!

2010 so far…

So, how is your 2010 so far?  Ours has been pretty good.  Josh and I rang in the New Year with the ball dropping New York time Thursday night and then we headed to bed.  Friday (New Year’s Day) was spent relaxing with a yummy pancake breakfast and then we headed over to Wing’s for lunch and to enjoy watching Auburn play in the Outback Bowl.  I have to admit that it was not the best played game but it was definitely a fun one to watch.  The rest of New Year’s Day was spent taking naps and enjoying our black-eyed peas for dinner.  Nice, calm, and relaxing…  just how it should be.

Saturday morning we headed up to the Opryland Hotel to celebrate our Engagement Day.  It is hard to believe that 7 years ago my best friend asked me to be his wife and helpmeet for life.  We had such a great time with the kids watching them enjoy all the decorations and lights.

We started out our trip by eating lunch at The Rainforest Cafe over at the Opry Mills mall

Emma Lee loved all the animals and fish in the restaurant gift shop.

After lunch, we headed over to the hotel to walk around and take in all the decorations…

Josh and the boys looking up at the “big tree”.

Can you tell that Emma Lee was not feeling too well this particular afternoon?

I absolutely love this photo because it is taken by Nate (from his perspective).  All 3 of us were laughing at him while he posed us and stood there to say “Cheese”.  I only wish I would have had a photo of him taking the picture.  Priceless… and forever in my heart.  Bullet_Smiley_1

This was probably my favorite “new” decoration that they added this year.

Here we are under our gazebo where Josh proposed 7 years ago.

Here come the ice cream and milkshakes…

All smiles and as Caleb Davis would say “All Sugared Up!”

And of course, we had to take a Delta Riverboat tour around the hotel…

We had a great time in Nashville and we are already planning our next trip back this Spring for possibly a zoo trip (GASP!!!)  You all know how much I hate the zoo but I am going to try to be brave for my kids.  Bullet_Smiley_1

Yesterday (Sunday) was nice too.  We were able to spend the morning in worship followed by lunch and afternoon naps. (Do you sense a theme so far in 2010?)  Later that evening, I stayed home with this little snow bunny while Josh and the boys went back to church for deacon meetings and evening worship/bible study.

So there you have it…  Our 1st 3 days of 2010.  What have you been up too so far this year?
